Decoding this string to binary reveals vtaber 61060174 which in-turn converted to ROT13 translates to IGNORE (post #) 61060174, meaning ignore post 61060174 where they asked users not to upgrade to the iPhone version 2.2 as it can't be unlocked.
UPDATE # 1 : The Dev Team posted the following screenshot as a proof to show that the iPhone 3G with OS version 2.2 is unlocked, However, they have still not released the 3G software unlocker yet.
As the above screenshot demonstrate the soft-unlock will work on the latest baseband v 02.28.00 and will be installable via Cydia, meaning you will need to jailbreak iPhone 3G before you can get it unlocked.
