Riding with support from industry major's like ARM, Broadcom, Intel, LG, Marvell, MediaTek, Nvidia, Panasonic, Philips, Qualcomm, RealTek, Samsung, Sigma, Sharp, Sony and Toshiba - the open-source, royalty-free "Google VP9 Video Codec" is all set to get the center-stage in a big way with support of consumer electronic devices like TV's, Smartphones, Tablets, PC's, Media Players with Ultra-HD Online Streaming capability using VP9. Google will be utilizing these hardware alliances to make sure future gadgets are able to stream 4K Ultra HD content streaming offered by Youtube, while consuming almost half the bandwidth required by high-definition videos today utilizing the optimizations of their open-source VP9 codec.
Starting in 2014, users will see products with 4K video decoding ability from major mobile, PC and TV manufactures offering users the crispiness of 3840 x 2160 pixels video-quality, Google's VP9 format will allow online content-providers to stream 4K videos less bandwidth and buffering which will take care of the currently prevalent "lack of content" problem for UHD format now.
