Similar to situations where a user needs to recover data from cd/dvd disk, there are cases where one wants to destroy sensitive date stored on the optical disks. Here is an interesting video demonstration of one such unique method to destroy data on disks with 100% assurance using high voltage electricity.

Fire is the best option. It erases the data forever with a simple effort. A disk can be easily bought anytime.

Burning a disc is dangerous. Burning plastic releases potentially deadly gasses such as cyanide, phosgene and other nastiness. not environmentally correct.

We also did all kinds of crazy stuff. I mean we used to do all kinds of jobs from office managing until 5 p.m., then writing and recording until 3 to 4 a.m. and then going back to work at 6 a.m. again. He never slept.
