All new official Windows 8 logo unveiled

Microsoft drastically changed the user-interface in Windows Phone 7 and their upcoming desktop/tablet OS update Windows 8 to "Metro UI", the same design philosopy has made the company change the age-old "Windows OS" logo to a brand new look for "Windows 8".

The new logo is both modern and classic with bold flat colors, clean lines and shapes echoing the "International Typographic Style" guidelines, that has been a great influence on the companies new Metro style design philosophy.

The Windows logo is a strong and widely recognized mark but when we stepped back and analyzed it, we realized an evolution of our logo would better reflect our Metro style design principles and we also felt there was an opportunity to reconnect with some of the powerful characteristics of previous incarnations, said Microsoft.

Wow! I been waiting with baited breath for this new logo to be unveiled. I wonder what bright spark has earned a couple of hundred thousand dollars for that design? I think I could have done better with my Crayola kit, come on it's hardly inspiring, is it?

yep. Nothing bold about the typeface. It actually looks pretty skinny from what I would see as bold.

i don't like that logo because Microsoft window is the best company in the world but that logo is nonprofessional.

I would like to bet, that the new windows Logo is changed back to the old one in a couple of years time, just like the BBC Logo was updated and then dumped a few years latter, Its believed that it cost the BBC many Millions of Pounds. Any takers on the dumping of new Logo? and I also totally agree with Doctor D.P. Blake!

This design looks more like a graphic designer's starting point than an ending point of a design.

Wow with all the new stuff going into window8 they could have done something "magical" with the logo. But i do understand the logo concept with the window8 O.S. since they want to make window8 more simplistic for all type of user. Why not match the logo with the O.S. :)

Guys, you all got it wrong! This new logo is nothing else as reversed colors Finnish national flag! Maybe it is a coincidence, maybe a well balanced bow to the collaboration with Nokia on the front of Windows 8 smart phone? Maybe spectacular tablets will follow, isn't an iPAD nothing else as an enlarged iPhone. Maybe we get large Lumias soon? Who knows? Whatever it is, there is a sense of nordic flair in it.

You call that a "Logo"!!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely rubbish. Did Bill Gates design it, I mean write it. Absolutely uninspiring and the work of a 3 Year old.
Windows 7 a thousand times better as well as XP`s Logo.
Come now Bill, we know you are better than that.
The "Logo" is utterly BORING.
Is the wheel turning and Microsoft on the Down Hill. Not surprised with there Monopoly and Pricing of there Products.
Actually GOOD NEWS for LINUX and other OS`s

I am a graphic designer from Ambient Art. The designs are affordable and you will get a much better result from me that the final results that has been presented. Each new design represents your company. It's supposed to attract positive and professional attention, stating that "we are the future" not, "Welcome to windows 95". To go anywhere in life, the progress has to move forward, never backwards.
