Very much confirming the leaked "Release dates of Microsoft Windows 10", Microsoft has already started promoting users to "Reserve your free upgrade" as shown in the images below. If you are not getting something like this, a scan for Windows Updates should trigger the notification in "System Tray" for you.

I get automatic updates for Windows 8.1 and have been checking manually as well. Would there be a reason that I haven't received my invitation to reserve? or am I just being a bit impatient?

Win 10 upgrade reservation
You'll get invitation if you have qualified system for upgrade, i.e. retail channel (not VL).
For VL systems upgrade you're to contact sysadmin and obtain a VL (Enterprise)upgrade.
