While the full-screen Sapphire Glass for smartphones could not become a reality, Gorilla Glass has came a long way since it's early days. Now, Corning has revealed their new Gorilla Glass 5, which ought to advance toward top of the line cell phones and other electronic gadgets not long from now in 2017. Gorilla Glass 5 is intended to enhance drop protection for gadgets that are dropped onto hard surfaces from midsection height to shoulder stature. Corning says the new glass can survive up to 80% of the time when dropped from 1.6 meters.
