Many of you must have grabbed your Windows 8 Pro license at super-discounted price before Microsoft started validating upgrades. If you only purchased the activation key to benefit from promotional pricing, and don't want to migrate from your current OS and install Windows 8 now - it is an good option to have the Windows 8 Pro installation media prepared for later usage.
In this tutorial we will see how to download and create Windows 8 Pro Retail installation on external media like bootable cd/dvd or other removable disk.
Downloading and creating Microsoft Windows 8 installation media :
- Open your mail inbox, and from the Microsoft Order Receipt email click the link which says "here" - also copy the Product key supplied to clipboard for use with the media maker.
- Launch the Windows 8 setup media make application and input your Windows 8 Pro activation key as shown below.
- Follow onscreen instructions to complete the process as per your choice.
- Once the the process finishes, you can burn the ISO to bootable media or save as-it-is for future usage.

Clean Installation
Can this ISO be used for a clean installation? I would like to format my Win7 PC, and install Win8 from scratch.
If yes, do I need to boot from the DVD?
thanks

Clean Installation
yes it can.It gives you the option of what to keep. or clean install.
Use a USB drive to install
Use a USB drive to install Windows. It will be much, much faster than installing from an optical disc.

Does not work if you have RTM
The upgrade Does not work if you have RTM and then go to retail. You will have to follow and extra step, first by creating the Retail OS on media then:
1. Format and
2. Re install window 7
3. Use Retail copy to install window 8 pro retail
I have tired and ended up having to do the following ^ steps
If you want to install the ISO onto another type media say pendrive (flash drive) you will need the following software: Novicorp WinToFlash and the ISO extracted into a folder.
Btw the ISO is missing an extra file under the following (source/ install.wim) If you have RTM version you can extract the missing file from the ISO.
NTLRD missing error: fix
Okie I dont know if some of you have install window 8 from a memory stick or memory card. When booting from the memory stick or memory card on the PC you get the following error: "NTLRD missing press alt + ctrl +del..."
Well thier is a quick solution that I have found online
while on another laptop with window 7 or window XP
Slide your memory stick to the USB and remember the drive letter
open "run" from the start menu and type "cmd" and Run program as "administrator"
In CMD type "X:\boot" <- X is letter which contain window 8
Once in boot folder type down "bootsect /nt60 x:" <- again X is letter which contain window 8.
This will patch NTLRD issue with that of more compatable one from window 7 or Window xp allowing to have a bootable window 8 installer on memory stick
If you do want to install window 8 and have the ISO on your PC use "novicorp wintoflash" latest beta will work to install extracted ISO to flash drive or memory stick.
