Good news for users waiting for the untethered jailbreak for Apple iOS 5.1.1, Chronic Dev-Team has now released Absinthe 2.0.1 letting users untethered jailbreak there iDevices running the latest iOS 5.1.1. Absinthe 2.0.1 is available on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux platforms and can be used for iOS 5.1.1 running on iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad, iPod touch 4G and iPod touch 3G.

After giving users Corona - The untethered jailbreak for A4 CPU based Apple device running iOS 5.0.1, pod2g has achieved another milestone by jailbreaking the newer A5 CPU based devices like iPhone 4S and iPad2. For now a video is posted demoing working iPhone 4S jailbreak running iOS 5.0.1, there is no ETA provided for the public release but an release is expected soon.

After giving us the much awaited untethered jailbreak for A4 CPU powered Apple devices running iOS 5.01 - "Corona", pod2g has tweeted some great news for Apple iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users running iOS 5.01.

The "Siri Proxy" hack allows developers to easily add functionality to Siri making it do cool voice controlled actions not built-in natively by Apple.

Developer's can now create "Siri Proxy Plugin's" allowing users to issue custom commands via the "Siri - voice assistant", an excellent demo is shown below where a "plugin" allows the developer to control his computer and a thermostat.

There is no doubt that Samsung Galaxy SII is an advanced piece of technology and comes with lots of functionality when compared to rather disappointing Apple iPhone 4S spec and feature set, despite this fact Apple cult followers will swaer by their products and Samsung's new advertisement targets exactly them portraying "the next big thing is already here".

Apple ended the rumor-mill and disappointed their fans when they unveiled the Apple iPhone 4S giving the much anticipated iPhone 5 a miss, the rumors are once again hot after iLounge reported according to their most reliable source that the next generation iPad 3, iPhone (probably iPhone 5) and Macbook Pro will be redesigned.

According to iLounge :

(1) The third-generation iPad will become modestly thicker (0.7mm) in order to accommodate the twin light bar system needed for its higher-resolution display. It’s currently on track for a March timeframe release, and according to our source could be publicly shown as early as January, depending on conditions.

(2) Our source says that the next-generation iPhone will not look like the teardrop-shaped version that was widely rumored for release in 2011. We’ve been told that the device will have a 4-inch display and will be 8mm longer than before, with a metal casing (probably aluminum). It is on track to be introduced in summer of 2012, and is still in the engineering phase, not early production. We suspect that poor battery life doomed the prior prototype version, and that this one is being built with LTE-ready battery drain in mind.

(3) Barring some huge and unexpected issue, 2012 will be the year when the MacBook Pro line gets its new design. Think thinner.
